Landing in Busan? Here is the airport-to-hotel answer we give travelers: light rail for Seomyeon, limousine or light rail for Haeundae, taxi only late at night.
Gimhae Airport is close to the city, which is the good news. The less good news is that Busan is long and thin, so Haeundae is on the far side from the airport. This is the full version of what we tell travelers in the chat, with the options side by side.
The short version
- Going to Seomyeon or Nampo: light rail to Sasang, then Line 2. Cheap, frequent, about half an hour to Seomyeon.
- Going to Haeundae or Gwangalli with luggage: the airport limousine (Haeundae and Gijang line) drops you near the beach. Without big bags, light rail plus Line 2 works too, about an hour.
- Landing late at night: taxi. The light rail and buses stop around midnight.
- Get a T-money or Cashbee card at a convenience store first. It works on the light rail, the subway, and city buses, and transfers are discounted.
Light rail plus Line 2
The Busan-Gimhae Light Rail station is connected to the terminal; follow the signs. Ride to Sasang, which takes about six minutes, and change to Line 2. Seomyeon is about 15 minutes further. Haeundae is about 35 minutes further. With a transit card the whole trip costs a few thousand won, and since September 2025 the transfer between the light rail and the subway carries no extra fare when you tap a card.
Trains run from early morning until around midnight. The stairs at Sasang are real, so if you have two large suitcases, read the next section.
Airport limousine bus
Busan runs airport limousine buses on two lines: Haeundae and Gijang, and Seomyeon and Bujeon. Your suitcase goes underneath and you sit the whole way, which is why we recommend it for Haeundae with luggage. The routes and fares were reworked in January 2026, the Seomyeon line became cheaper, and the timetable changes with demand, so check the city page for your arrival time before you fly. As of early 2026 the Haeundae line was around ₩9,500 and the Seomyeon line ₩6,000 for adults.
Tickets are sold at the airport counter and through the bus booking app; the schedule has gaps in the afternoon on some lines, so a seat is not guaranteed the moment you walk out. If the next bus is an hour away, the light rail is faster.
City bus, the cheap middle
There is also an express city bus from the airport through Seomyeon to Haeundae, running roughly hourly from morning to evening. It costs the same as a normal bus fare with your card, so it is the cheapest way to Haeundae with luggage, but it is slower than the limousine and you stand if it is full. Good when the timing happens to work; do not wait an hour for it.
Taxi
Taxis wait outside arrivals. To Haeundae count on roughly 45 to 70 minutes and somewhere between ₩30,000 and ₩50,000 depending on traffic and time of day, with a late-night surcharge. To Seomyeon it is shorter and cheaper. Use Kakao T or show the hotel address in Korean; most drivers speak little English. After midnight the taxi is the only option, and it is a fine one.
If you have booked a Crew member
Tell your Crew member your flight time in the chat. A Busan Station or Haeundae Station exit, or your hotel lobby, is the usual meeting point. If you land in the afternoon and want to start the same day, say so early; the Busan Crew is small and dates fill. How a Busan hangout works and what it costs is in the Busan post, and the T-money post explains the card.
FAQ
- Can I tap T-money to board the airport limousine?
- Only when seats are left after ticket holders board. Buy a ticket at the counter or in the app if you want a sure seat. Trains and city buses are tap-and-go every time.
- I land after midnight. Am I stuck?
- No, but it is a taxi. Have your hotel address ready in Korean and expect a possible night surcharge. Trains and buses start again early in the morning if you would rather wait at the terminal.
- Should I buy the T-money card at the airport or in the city?
- Either. The airport convenience stores often sell them, and many CU, GS25, and 7-Eleven stores in the city do too. Load enough for the first day and recharge later; the card works the same in Busan and in Seoul.
